When do I get paid?
The day after every shift. Payroll runs daily, so once you clock off and your hours are approved, the pay lands in your MyGig Wallet the next day. Not Thursday, not the 15th. Withdrawing it is free, and there is no wage-advance fee, because it is not an advance: it is your pay.
Does it cost anything to work through MyGig?
No. Signing up is free, using the app is free, and withdrawing your pay is free. Workers are never charged a fee, and nothing is deducted from your pay beyond the tax and superannuation that would be withheld by any employer.
Am I an employee or a contractor?
An employee. MyGig Workforce Pty Ltd employs you for the shifts you work, which means you are paid Modern Award rates with casual loading and any penalties that apply, you accrue 12% superannuation, and you are covered by workers compensation. You are not asked to have an ABN and you are not invoicing anyone.
Do I get superannuation on casual shifts?
Yes, 12% on your ordinary earnings, and it moves with each daily pay run rather than waiting for a quarterly deadline. Hostplus is the default fund, and you can nominate your own instead.
Where can I pick up shifts?
MyGig operates in NSW, WA, TAS and the NT, so shifts are in and around Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Perth, Hobart and Darwin. Sydney is by far the deepest, especially Western Sydney warehousing. We are not in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia or the ACT yet, so if you are in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or on the Gold Coast there is nothing to pick up right now. Victoria and Queensland are planned for 2027.
What do I need to sign up?
Proof of identity and your right to work in Australia, your tax and super details, some work history, and any tickets the roles you want require, such as a forklift LF or LO licence, an RSA or a White Card. Sign-up takes about 30 minutes and you only do it once.
Do I have to accept shifts?
No. You see what is available near you with the site, the start time and the exact pay rate before you accept anything, and you take only what you want. There is no branch to check in with and no consultant deciding what you get offered. Turning down a shift does not affect what you are shown next.
How do I know what a shift pays before I accept it?
The rate is on the listing. It is calculated from the Modern Award that applies to the role, including casual loading and any evening, weekend or public-holiday penalty for that exact date and time, so the number you see is the number you are paid.
